Overview

As a Commercial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting Leonardo’s business units by providing financial expertise and analysis to drive informed decision-making. You will work closely with commercial teams to ensure financial compliance, manage budgets, and contribute to the financial planning and forecasting processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Analysis & Reporting:
    • Prepare, analyze, and report on financial performance, including variance analysis and project profitability.
    • Deliver timely and accurate management accounts and performance reports to stakeholders.
  2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.
  3. Contract & Bid Support:
    • Partner with commercial teams to evaluate financial implications of contracts and bids.
    • Ensure pricing structures and costings comply with internal policies and external regulations.
  4. Compliance & Governance:
    • Ensure adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
    • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audits and address queries.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Act as a finance business partner for operational and commercial managers.
    • Provide training and guidance on financial tools and processes.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting systems.
    • Contribute to the development of financial models and forecasting tools.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Qualifications:
    • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
    • Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in a commercial accounting role, ideally within a defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environment.
    • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills, with a focus on operational and project accounting.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel.
    • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
