Overview
As a Commercial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting Leonardo’s business units by providing financial expertise and analysis to drive informed decision-making. You will work closely with commercial teams to ensure financial compliance, manage budgets, and contribute to the financial planning and forecasting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Prepare, analyze, and report on financial performance, including variance analysis and project profitability.
- Deliver timely and accurate management accounts and performance reports to stakeholders.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.
- Contract & Bid Support:
- Partner with commercial teams to evaluate financial implications of contracts and bids.
- Ensure pricing structures and costings comply with internal policies and external regulations.
- Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audits and address queries.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a finance business partner for operational and commercial managers.
- Provide training and guidance on financial tools and processes.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting systems.
- Contribute to the development of financial models and forecasting tools.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Qualifications:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- Proven experience in a commercial accounting role, ideally within a defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills, with a focus on operational and project accounting.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
